My name is Troy Longo, and I help people like you overcome challenges in their life and career.

Troy Longo, Licensed Professional Counselor

Two experiences defined who I am today and how I operate my counseling practice.

First, I was diagnosed with insulin-dependent (type 1) diabetes, which taught me about the stress and frustration associated with having a chronic health condition. My diabetes also prevented me from joining the military. Seeking to find a similar career, I became a paramedic—the second experience that defined me. I spent thirty years in EMS, and my time in the emergency medical services career not only introduced me to medicine and healthcare but also the stressful reality of being a first responder. I noticed my colleagues’ mental health decline with little to no assistance provided by the healthcare system, inspiring me to help others who felt the same.

I worked 30 years in EMS, and was one of the many first responders in NYC on 9/11.

I decided to become a licensed professional counselor.

I attended Seton Hall University, where I obtained a master’s in counseling (MA) and an education specialist degree (EdS). My first full-time counseling position was as a healthcare counselor working with chronically and terminally ill patients. Ultimately, I decided to launch my own practice, and Let’s Talk Health & Wellness was born.

From day one, I’ve focused on helping those who help others.

I know you don’t want to lay on a couch and answer questions from a stranger. Instead, I provide a space to talk with someone who understands how you feel. That said, I believe that you are the expert on your life, and I want to honor that. I also work with people of all ages who are dealing with a chronic illness, such as diabetes. This disease requires a lot of energy, especially as you get older. Whether you’re a healthcare provider, someone with a chronic illness, or someone suffering from anxiety, I want to help you deal with what life is dishing out.
